Three things decide this choice before any feature list does.

It costs nothing, and keeps costing nothing. Infinity gives you fourteen days, then CHF 29 a month — CHF 24 if you pay a year up front. SoloDesk Free is CHF 0 with full double-entry bookkeeping behind it, and there is no day fifteen.

It includes more documents than the plan you would pay for. SoloDesk Free covers 10 a month, 120 across the year. Infinity Start covers 75 for the entire year. Past the limit, both products charge per document.

It runs on the phone you already have. Infinity needs an iPhone — a recent one — and their own site still says an Android app «folgt bald», "coming soon". SoloDesk runs on iPhone, on Android, and in a browser.

What if free was the real tool, not a trial?

With SoloDesk — CHF 0. Not a trial, not 14 days. The full working tool. Process up to 10 documents a month, run your full double-entry bookkeeping, send QR-Bill invoices and quotes, issue credit notes, send 3-level payment reminders, track VAT on the dashboard, and manage everything from your phone. When you need more, you upgrade to Mid or Full. When you don't, you come back to Free.

With Infinity — you get 14 days. Two weeks to scan receipts, send a few invoices, and decide. Without a subscription, access ends there.

02 Getting paid

What if you never had to write a payment reminder?

With SoloDesk — the invoice knows when it is late. SoloDesk tells you which invoices are due for a reminder today, and the letter is already written: a friendly first notice; a firmer second that names the statutory 5% default interest under Art. 104 OR; and a final letter that adds the accrued interest and the Betreibung warning. You read it and send it — one click per reminder. Need to correct an invoice? Issue a credit note — a real document, your client files it, your books stay clean.

With Infinity — there is no reminder letter to send. Their own FAQ:

What they offer instead is to resend the invoice yourself, by email, with a reminder note attached.

Credit notes are the same story. Infinity can cancel an invoice and write off the receivable — a Stornorechnung. What it cannot do is issue a credit note, and this is their own documentation saying so:

Why this matters

Late payments are a sole proprietor's biggest cash-flow risk. What stops a reminder going out is rarely the decision — it is the blank page. Finding the right tone for a second notice, and the right legal phrasing for a third, is a job nobody wants on a Friday afternoon. All three are already written, in your language, and SoloDesk tells you the day each one is due. A CHF 2'000 invoice doesn't sit unpaid for three months because the firm letter was never drafted.

Credit notes aren't optional either. A client returns an item, a billing error surfaces, a service gets cancelled — and you need a credit note as a document, one your client can book and your accountant can file. Cancelling the original invoice is not the same thing: the sale happened, it was declared, and the correction has to show as a correction.

SoloDesk covers the whole receivables cycle — three reminder stages, the statutory interest and the Betreibung warning where each belongs, and the credit note — on the free plan. Infinity's own FAQ says they have no classical dunning system.

What if you knew your VAT today, not every quarter?

With SoloDesk — open the dashboard. Your VAT balance is there, updated with every transaction. The effective method works on every tier, including Free. All three rates, all your entries, nothing to compute by hand.

With Infinity — the effective method starts at Infinity Pro: CHF 45 a month, or CHF 38 if you pay a year up front. And wherever you are, VAT is worked out per tax period, inside the accounting module. Their own features page: «Infinity berechnet quartalsweise MWST-Abrechungen» — quarterly statements. You go looking for the number.

What if the app ran on the phone you already have?

With SoloDesk — open the app. iPhone or Android, on the phone in your pocket. Tap scan, shoot the receipt, confirm, done.

With Infinity — you need an iPhone, and a recent one. On Android there is nothing to open. Their own page:

05 Document Intelligence
